Aleš Voráček

The tenor Aleš Voráček was born in České Budějovice. He began to occupy himself with singing at the age of twenty-five, and graduated from voice studies at the Conservatory in České Budějovice, with Prof. Vítězslava Bobáková.

During his first year of study he performed as a soloist with the Opera Ensemble of the South Bohemian Theatre in České Budějovice, before taking up a permanent engagement there in 2005. He appeared in a number of roles at the theatre, for instance Nemorino in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Almaviva in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, Ferrando in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Lyonel in Flotow’s Martha, Vítek in The Secret by Smetana, Jiří in The Jacobin by Antonín Dvořák, Max in Der Freischütz by Weber, the Prince in Rusalka (in which Aleš Voráček introduced himself at the Open-Air Theatre in Český Krumlov), the shepherd Jirka in The Devil and Kate by Antonín Dvořák, Cassio in Otello by Verdi, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni by Mozart and Ernesto in Don Pasquale by Donizetti. He appears as a guest at the National Theatre in Brno, where he has performed in the role of Idamante in Idomeneo by Mozart, at the National Theatre in Prague, singing the part of Vašek in The Bartered Bride by Smetana, Jirka in The Devil and Kate and Jiří in The Jacobin by Antonín Dvořák.

Aleš Voráček is also frequently engaged in concert projects. He has collaborated for instance with conductor Jiří Bělohlávek and the BBC Symphony Orchestra in the concert productions of The Bartered Bride and The Jacobin at London’s Barbican Hall.
