Maria Kobielska
After graduating from the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, Maria Kobielska was engaged by the Moravian Theatre in Olomouc. In the period 1996-2002 she appeared as a soloist at the Prague State Opera, where she performed in numerous soprano roles. Since the 2002/2003 season, she has been a soloist of the Opera Ensemble of the National Theatre in Prague, enacting Janáček’s Vixen (The Cunning Little Vixen), the triple role of Málinka, Etherea and Kunka (The Excursions of Mr Brouček), Mařenka (The Bartered Bride), Blaženka (The Secret) and Vendulka (The Kiss), Mariken (Martinů - The Miracles of Mary), Micaela (Bizet - Carmen), Mimi (Puccini: La bohème), Janáček’s Káťa Kabanová and Rusalka by Dvořák. On the stage of the State Opera she continues to perform as Mimi (Puccini - La bohème) and Minnie (Franz - The War with the Newts).
Extensive too are her concert activities on domestic and foreign stages, and she collaborates with renowned orchestras. With the BBC Orchestra and under the baton of Jiří Bělohlávek, she recorded the triple role in Janáček’s The Excursions of Mr Brouček for the label of Deutsche Grammophon. This recording won the Midem Classical Award 2009 at the music trade fair in Cannes.
